About
The Southern African Historical Society (SAHS) is an active network for communication among professional historians, located throughout the subcontinental region, and the organisational home for the accredited South African Historical Journal.
Problem
The Southern African Historical Society wanted to communicate more efficiently with their members, to facilitate the administration of new and existing membership, and to promote their biennial conference and historical journal.
Solution
We developed a platform, which allows the SAHS to publish news items on forthcoming events and conferences, job and research opportunities for its members, as well as general news about the society and its activities. History departments in universities throughout southern Africa are now linked through this web portal and the website serves as a platform to join or renew membership to the society.
Result
The SAHS is able to communicate more effectively with its members, the website has improved administrative capacity and helped raise the society’s profile – it has been attributed with a growing interest in the society and an increased number of abstracts submitted for the biennial conference.
